Hello, I’m Kare (aka K.S.R. Kingworth), storyteller and author of the Carli Rockell and the Fire Seed, first book in the the Primørdiya trilogy. I believe good stories can be good medicine. I write from The Nosebleed, my perch above San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where I write young adult fantasy, journal song lyrics, and create music inspired by the world we live in, and the stories I am blessed to tell. ✨ 

 

Years ago, I wrote a young adult fantasy, Secret Speakers and the Search for Selador’s Gate. The story found wonderful readers during a time when Lyme disease knocked me flat for over a decade. It received a starred-review from School Library Journal, and was performed by ​Booklist’s,Voice of Choice, Simon Vance. I made peace with never writing again. Then . . .

 

Life had other plans.

 

One Spring afternoon in 2023, while on Soul’s Street, a ginger street cat named Max the Cat Dog appeared and stayed curled up beside me as if she’d been assigned as the threshold guide to my journey. In that moment, the world of Primørdiya arrived: a handprint made with red ochre clay, a realm with a training sanctuary in the primørdial arts, and eventually, apprentices who learned to wield primørdial power through cooperation rather than force.

 

When I sat down to write the words came like water I’d forgotten how to find. To say I’m the author feels strange, since it feels like the story was given to me.

 

When I’m not writing from The Nosebleed, I’m visiting my children and grandchildren scattered across Austria, Denmark and Alaska, creating healing folk music, or dabbling in the mathematics of astrology. Primørdiya is my love letter to today’s youth — offering them a world where learning to wield primørdial power is essential to saving everything. In case you’re wondering, Book Two is well underway, and the ending is written.
